Posted By Mimi Leung
My “Overheard on Graham Street” pics are exhibited in a group show this week at UFO Gallery in Central Hong Kong. Also on show will be 2 customized mannequins and 3 hand painted guitars, one of which features here. The show is part of a cycle of 3 one-week exhibitions by 9 different artists in Hong Kong, in collaboration with Alive Not Dead . My exhibition is with an artist called Emily Eldridge and an old friend from St Martins, Mike Chan.

Kate Nash ‘My Best Friend Is You’
The new album by Kate Nash is out today. Produced by Bernard Butler – “My Best Friend Is You” – sees a development in her direction towards a more indie sound and features a rawer more stripped back approach to her music. To reflect this attitude Big Active were commissioned to create a campaign that has been inspired by references as diverse as 1920/30’s constructivist collage to stateside girl-band iconography from the 1960’s. Mat Maitland art directed the campaign working in collaboration Kate Gibb – who produced all of the silkscreen imagery. Reflecting the personal sentiment in the album’s title the printed imagery takes the form of collages all incorporate keepsakes belonging to Kate Nash, “The silkscreen process gives the visual flavour a much more hard edged organic feel – in keeping with the spirit of the album” . The imagery is integrated across all aspects of the promotional campaign.

Will Sweeney As Above So Below
Here’s a flyer for a new solo show by Will Sweeney at LazyDog in Paris. The exhibition runs from 1st April until the 8th May and coincides with a new body of work just released through independent art publisher Nieves. This fresh direction finds the artist picking up a brush and adopting a looser styled visual narrative based on a series of randomly selected photographs from his collection of vintage National Geographic magazines.
