Jody Barton for Pollyn ‘How Small We Are’

Jody Barton was responsible for the animation in the video to Pollyn’s new single How Small We Are. Jody started by filming joggers side-onĀ from his bike before splitting the video into frames and superimposing hand-drawn stickmen on the top. Watch the video above.

Jody Barton vs MC Paul Barman

Posted by Jody Barton

I’ve always liked MC Paul Barman’s music since I first heard his album ‘Paullelujah!’ in 2001. He’s got to be the funniest, most dry and intellectual rapper ever. His new album, ‘Thought Balloon Mushroom Cloud’ is super-good, and produced by Memory Man, a continuation of Paul’s journey to be the wordiest man in Hip-Hop. I just emailed him and asked if I could do an animated video for one of his songs. He said yes, and here it is! Man! animation is a labour of love but an honour to be part of a project that also lists Michel Gondry as a contributor.

Jody Barton X-Felt Copenhagen Project

Posted by Jody Barton

I was asked to do some sort of artwork to decorate the main event room in ‘Huset’, a multi-disciplinary arts space in Copenhagen. I wanted to do something to emphasise the value of voting. We take it for granted and are rightly cynical about it’s effect, but many people have risked and sometimes lost their lives fighting for democratic rights. In England for example the members of the Women’s Suffrage movement went on hunger strike and were fed by nasal tube when imprisoned for minor acts of civil disobedience like breaking windows. My three posters are to commemorate those acts. they are 2 metres by 1.4 metres and are painted by hand in one go.

Jody Barton Democratic Pop-up Show

Posted by Jody Barton

I painted 28 super-quick A2 posters in support of a new campaign in Copenhagen, Denmark called X-Felt. The point of X-Felt is to encourage young people and politicians to talk to each other. Then hopefully, young people get what they want and also get involved in the political process. There was a private launch in the Cafe Gallery ‘Din Nye Ven’ and I put up the posters for a one-night-only surprise show.

There’s a good story behind some of the images – to find out more visit my blog page.
