Jesse Auersalo has just updated his website to include new works created during the last few months.

Here’s a remarkable new piece of work by Jesse Auersalo for Playboy Magazine. The original draft was purely monochrome, but when Hugh Hefner himself took the trouble to request the addition of colour, Jesse was more than happy to oblige.

He’ll be discussing his design background, its relationship to his personal background and how they all affect what he is doing now. Jesse divides his time between Brooklyn and Helsinki, his distinctive, character-driven work is marked by an aesthetic he describes as, “polished and clean, as well as sticky and dirty.

I’ve known Jesse Pietilä since we were at the University of Art & Design Helsinki together. He’s a gifted spacial designer so this was a perfect way of us finally getting to work on something together. We set out to playfully explore the roll of a poster and the surface it is designed to appear on.

Just got back from Berlin after the Illustrative ‘09 opening, a real honor to be there alongside artists like Keiichi Tanaami & Erik Sandberg. The exhibition looked really great in the beautiful venue, Villa Elisabeth, a century old building that was originally constructed as an office for the church next door.
