Posted by Siggi Eggertsson
Over the last few days I’ve been doing some teaching workshops in Berlin. On Friday I was sitting at the end of the table, with 16 students around me. I asked them to draw me from their perspective in whatever style they wanted to. This was the outcome.

Siggi Some Type of Wonderful
Posted by Siggi Eggertsson
Some Type Of Wonderful asked me to do a poster that somehow had something to do with the month October, and with typography. The image is done in 3 layers, but everything kind of blends together. In the background there is a distorted landscape image that I worked from a photograph that I took on my island, Hrísey, last October. On top of that, using the shapes from the illustration, I wrote the name of the month with big transparent letters. Then in the foreground I drew thin white letters, also built by using the grid below. They spell out what the dictionary told me about October; “The month following September and preceding November.”

Siggi Illustrative 09
This old but remarkable piece by Siggi Eggertsson will be on public view at the Illustrative 09 show in Berlin from Oct 16 – Nov 1. The huge 2 × 2.5 meter quilt collages influential and important objects from his childhood and is put together with over 10,000 pieces of fabric taking over 300 hours to produce. Here’s a recent interview in German newspaper Der Fritag.
