The new Mark Ronson album ‘Record Collection’ features many different record covers that are used to create the actual design. The album campaign was directed and designed by Big Active with collaborative imagery by Mat Maitland, Jasper Goodall, Will Sweeney, Jesse Auersalo, Parra and Markus Karlsson. The ‘Record Collection’ is available as a CD, 12″ Vinyl, iTunes Interactive Format and Collectors 7″ boxed set – featuring the individual sleeves from the album collages and housed in an 80’s inspired leatherette record carry case.

London based artist Will Sweeney and San Francisco’s Matt Furie are collaborating on a series of images of portals, doorways and entrances to new worlds for “The Doorz”, an upcoming show at DreamBagsJaguarShoes evoking the imagery of surreal children’s books, lost animations and hyper real alien landscapes. Private View: 17th August, 2010. 7pm till late.

Slip inside the Alakazam School of Masks, an age old institution of sonic assasins, Dischordian freaks and champions of the undercurrent. The school was founded in 1853 in Heidelburg, Germany by Florian Gluszweski, author of The Guardians of Jupiter a little known early science fiction novel which is said to have been a major influence on the French artist & illustrator Grandville, among others. Ever since it was founded, new chapters of the school have sprung up around the world as word of it’s influence and teachings hasspread. The Alakazam school is the latest chapter to emerge and to celebrate we present a small
collection of new T-shirt designs.

Here’s a flyer for a new solo show by Will Sweeney at LazyDog in Paris. The exhibition runs from 1st April until the 8th May and coincides with a new body of work just released through independent art publisher Nieves. This fresh direction finds the artist picking up a brush and adopting a looser styled visual narrative based on a series of randomly selected photographs from his collection of vintage National Geographic magazines.

The theme given to Cameron Platter and myself was ‘Sickness & Health‘ so I decided to resurrect Helmut The Hot Dog Man to tell a short tale based on the lyrics to Macy Skipper’s classic rockabilly track, Bop Pills.

‘Them and Us’ takes 20 leading European image makers and teams them up with 20 African counterparts. Each team of two was asked to create a double sided poster in an open exchange of ideas. Both works share thinking but we are able, through the final executions, to compare and contrast African and European views and aesthetics.

The works are being exhibited in 2010 in Europe and South Africa with all proceeds going to Amnesty International.
