As a result of the enthusiastic response to Siggi Eggertsson’s brilliant virtual lecture at Aktionklasse (you may remember we posted this link a few weeks back) he’s been asked to deliver another public address at “Eskapade” the typography conference taking place at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Dortmund, Germany on the 4th of April, at 4:15 pm. Lecture at die Aktionklasse from Siggi Eggertsson on Vimeo. Last Friday Siggi delivered an brilliant lecture about himself, his inspiration and his work at the Weißensee design school in Berlin. This months iDN Magazine features an interview with Siggi Eggertsson as part of it’s special geometric graphics theme. Of course Siggi is the first to admit “Grids and geometry are the glue that holds my work together. It keeps everything in order…”, but he’s naturally dismissive of being pigeon holed as part of a wider graphic trend “I’m more interested in creating work, geometric or not, than sitting down to think how it differs from other types of design”. Smooth words indeed – good design is about thinking outside the box rather than worrying about all the boxes to tick.
