Erwan Frotin Biography
As well as humor and high spirits, there is a vivid sense of energy in the work of still life photographer Erwan Frotin whose images are each a vision of a unique sculptural performance.
The viewer is prompted to look at familiar subjects with new eyes, enjoying the emotional sense of an object on an instinctive level. His subjects become a wealth of material possibilities of which the natural beauty is emphasized by a kaleidoscope of colours and a symbiosis of shapes and textures in unexpected yet perfectly balanced compositions.
Erwan Frotin compares his role as like that of a puppet-master, animating and bringing to life the objects he works with. Erwan Frotin’s mastery of form and movement has made him an influential image-maker who is rejuvenating the art of still life for a new generation.
Following his training at prominent Swiss art school ECAL, Erwan Frotin went on to scoop the coveted photography prize at the prestigious Hyeres festival in France. Since he has worked with a strong line up of clients ranging from fashion (Tsumori Chisato, Hermès and Louis Vuitton), editorial (Another Magazine, Paradis, Vogue, The New York Times) and the wider commercial market (Sony & Orange).
